A Cure for Cabin Fever

Cabin fever is starting to set in here. That is a lie. We already had cabin fever in November. The fever came and there was no cure, not even more cowbell. Then yesterday morning, the clouds parted, sun shined down upon us, and we hit the road. The first thing we did was kidnap Grandma. I do not have enough skillz to go at it alone. Our journey took us north to the great metropolis of Fond du Lac. Our destination: The Children's Museum. Our goal: some good old fashioned fun.

Some sisterly love on the slide.

Shadow room!! Kendall didn't want to stand still. She just wanted to push the button. She loves to push buttons. Buttons are her thang.

Hello there.

Doing a little fishing. Daddy would be proud. She caught three keepers but threw them back.

A little door for a little person. She totally hit her head. I may or may not have chuckled. More points for Mother of the Year.

I can not look at this picture and not laugh my butt off! I do not think Kendall was ready for this. WOAH! She never went down this slide again. She was traumatized.

Who is that pretty girl? What a nugget.

Patiently waiting and ready to leave the toddler area. What a trooper. Look at those new kicks. Avery digs anything sparkly and pink. And she's a big, big fan of shoes. Imagine her giddiness when Target had sparkly pink shoes. There was no talking her down from this purchase.  Kendall got some new kicks, too. There aren't any good pictures of hers though. Apparently her mother was forcing her chubby little feet into shoes that were too small. In Target, she revolted by removing said shoes and demanding a new pair.

Suddenly, a tree frog appeared, hopping and 'ribbiting' all over the place! I don't think tree frogs are the 'ribbiting' type but the Avery tree frog can do whatever it wants.

I'm gonna get you!

Avery's favorite part of the museum was the pizza parlor. Here she's making Grandma a pizza.

She had the flick of the wrist down pat and could get the pan off of the board in one swift movement. That's my girl. You can just call her Chef.

Cutting the pizza up. It must not be too hot since she's touching the pan with her hand. Or she's just tough.

Serving Grandma her pizza and cup. Her pizza's pretty expensive though. She was charging 60 bucks per pie. It must be gourmet. She gives her mom a discount though. I ordered a single slice of pepperoni and was only charged one buck. Giving a discount to the one who gave you life is a smart move. Because as my mom said, "I brought you into this world and I sure as heck can take you out." Her language was a little more colorful but this is a family site. None of that here.

Kendall's favorite part of the museum was this big 'ball.' She spun it every single time she walked past it.

Kendall helping run the register at Avery's Gourmet Pizzeria.

The mouse would not stay in his house. Avery's pest control solution: feed it pizza at it's hole so it doesn't come out to find any. A Chef, a business owner, and an animal whisperer. She is a true renaissance woman. She must get that from me. Not the animal whispering part. That's obvious from my disobedient dog.

Avery showing Kendall how it's done.

It was her first day on the job. Cut her some slack.

Five second rule. Let's try this again.

MMMMM. Wood pizza taste so good.

Face plant!

The natives are getting restless and our meter is about to run out. Time to go!

This was the very first time we went to the Fond du Lac Children's Museum. We frequented the old Madison Children's museum quite a bit and have made the journey to the new one as well. We have always had a blast there, but I think we will head back to FDL before going to Madison. With Kendall being only one and a half, the Madison museum is a little big for her. I also feel like we get rushed through it because there is so much to do. The FDL museum is obviously smaller but doesn't lack activities. Plus, it is basically one giant room which makes it easier to retrace steps and go back to areas that were more fun.

Then there is the price. It is only $4.25 to get in to FDL, where Madison charges $6.95. There is not much of a price difference, but both places charge for anyone over the age of one. When four people go, there is quite a price difference.  Hey, ten dollars is ten dollars people! That could buy another pair of sparkly pink shoes. Just saying.

Lastly, it only takes us thirty minutes to drive to FDL opposed to an hour to get to Madison.  I love the Madison museum and we will definitely go there if we are already in Madison and need an activity. I think we will be heading to FDL more often for a little educational fun and some wearing out of the little people. And if you are good, Grandma buys you ice cream after.
