Kendall has started nodding today.
"Kendall, do you want milk?" Nod and smile.
"Kendall, do you want to take a nap?" No nod.
"Do you want me to put those fancy shoes on you?" Nod and squeal.
"Kendall, do you want to have a secret cupcake with Mommy before Avery gets home from school?" Big nod, squeal, giggle, and wide open mouth. Oh, and a little happy dance.
"Kendall, do I need to change your diaper?" Nod.
We are getting somewhere here. Conversations are being had. There is a downside to all of this. Once the nodding starts, "NO!" is not far behind.
And an update for everyone keeping track of her increasing vocabulary, she now says, "Help Mama."
It sounds more like, "Hell, baba" but we aren't looking for perfection here, just less grunting.
Wait, there's more.
When we go away, Koda has to be put in the basement. For anyone who wonders why that may be, it is because he would eat something or everything if left out. One time, this was an entire bowl of Halloween candy I never thought he would touch. Sometimes it's obvious things, like tipping the garbage over. Other times it may be the unnecessary killing of a beloved stuffed animal. Nothing is safe when Koda's around.
Anyway. When it is about time to go, I say, "Avery, time to put Koda in the basement!" She yells, "Come here boyboy." He goes and she closes the door.
Yesterday, Avery had already left for school and Kendall and I were going to go grocery shopping. I said, "All we have to do is put Koda in the basement." Can you guess what happened next?
Well, I will tell you. Kendall yelled, "Yahblahnahtah, YOYA!" He came, desended the steps, and she closed the door. That is right. Koda listened to her and she knew what to do.
Incredible.
